It's been a such beautiful week here. You can smell spring in the air. The sun has been shining and the air is starting to warm up (finally!). Right now, there is no snow in my yard. And no ice in my pool. Summer is finally coming.
This year was incredible year for snow around here. Here's a pic from a previous post that shows how high the snow banks actually were. When I was a kid, we got tons of snow, but the last 20 years or so have been a bit lean in the snow department.
On this particular cheerful, sunny spring day, I pick up my camera and my son at school and along with a friend from his class, we went for a walk in the woods down at Baille Ard Trails.
There was still a bit of snow here in the woods and on the trails. We had to be a bit careful walking.
The sun shining through the trees...so pretty.
We brought some bird seed to feed the birds and squirrels. Every so often we could come across a bench along the trail and leave a little present for the little critters.
We made some new friends. The chickadees were a bit shy.
This cute little squirrel was very friendly and let us stick around and watch him eat.
The kids had a ball clowning around on this awesome rock.
And couldn't resist throwing some rocks.
Found this birdfeeder...
And a pussy willow!
I fell in love with these tree roots. Maybe they'll make a great painting.
Couldn'r resist taking some more reference photos. Maybe you'll see them in one of my paintings sometime.
Loved this...
And this....
Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing our walk in the woods :-) Have a great week!
Thank YOU for sharing your walk with us!
ReplyDeleteOh, I lOVED seeing your nature walk! Chickadees are one of my favorites - and I adore that sweet little squirrel. Thanks very much, Jo! Theresa
ReplyDeleteGreat photos Jo-Ann. Makes me miss Canada. The photos have reminded me to tell you that I'm organising a fundraiser for the charity Trees for Life to help save the Caledonian forest. Please le me know if you'd like to be involved. I'm looking for 140 artists worldwide to create a small 6x9 inch artwork inspired by the trees or natural surrounding from where they live. There will be a big exhibition in November to raise the money. I have all the details on my blog so please feel free to check it out. Thanks for reading my silly story of growing up in 80's Canada. Good times but thank God I lost the big Bon Jovi hairstyle! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments :-) Glad you all liked our little outing!
ReplyDeleteTrevor, the Trees for Life sounds like a great way to raise money and awareness. Count me in! I'm off to check out your blog now and will be in touch!
